Collections
Collections agencies usually use a combination of letters and telephone call to the debtor to recover the debts, this normally is successful. The general procedure usually involved is mail, telephone call and a visit to the debtors address in that order. Outlined in Appendix A is the procedure adopted by Regency Consultants.
The majority of agencies are computerized and have sophisticated collection systems that ensures prompt follow up to any arrangements made with the debtor. Where an offer is made, the agency will have an arrangement with the client to ensure that they can accept or reject such offers to a certain value. Where large amounts are involved the agency would liaise on a regular basis with the client. Agencies which are not computerized do not survive in the United Kingdom.
